Six EAPB members among world’s safest banks

05 November 2026

Global Finance’s 2026 ranking again features six EAPB direct members in the top ten.

Global Finance has announced the Safest Banks in Western Europe 2026, as part of its 35th annual ranking of the World’s Safest Banks. The top ten banks in Western Europe are, once again, the ten safest in the world, and the 2026 list is identical to 2025.

Six of them are EAPB direct members: BNG Bank and Nederlandse Waterschapsbank (Netherlands); Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank, L-Bank and NRW.BANK (Germany); and Kommunalbanken (Norway)

Winners were selected based on the long-term foreign currency ratings of the 500 largest banks worldwide from Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch. The full report, including the 100 Safest Banks in the World, will appear in the November print and digital editions and on GFMag.com.

The result underlines the financial strength and long-term resilience of public and promotional banks, which continue to support investment across Europe.
